I had a Masterchef dinner!

Everybody knows that I'm a hardcore Masterchef fan! I cook what Masterchef cook, I shop where Masterchef shop! :P and guess what? Not me or Joe cooking this time! We were lucky to be the panel judges this time hahaha kidding!

Actually, Elisha and Daniel invited us to their house to have a birthday dinner for the July babies, Joe and William. Elisha really put a lot of effort on planning and cooking! She feed us so much yummy food and I just couldn't stop eating! I am still so full from the dinner at this time of the night!! ( it's nearly 1am by the way 0_0 )

First Nom! Pea and Ham Soup. The best warm soup for the cold weather!! hohoho delicious and smooth!

Our Main Nom Nom!
Jamie Oliver's Steak Sarnie! Omg look at it. Who wouldn't wanna eat this!!!

The flavour is just awesome! Juicy steak and I think the secret to this recipe is resting the piece of steak on the bed of salad. The juices from the meat will just slightly infused the salad to make it tastier! :P~

Beetroot and twice cooked chips as sides. Chips were bloody awesome too! Soft in the inside and crunchy on the outside. Drool~

and for our last nom nom, it was the Baked Chocolate Praline Tart with Raspberry Reduction and Chantilly Cream from Masterchef! It was absolutely delicious! Chocolate Praline is just nice and it goes so well with the spread of Raspberry Reduction! (Plated by me and Jersie! :P We are the assistants!) Yeap! We did the famous decorating skills! Sauce spreading thing and the coulis thing and a little micro herb deco! hahaha *Proud* ^-^

Now for those of you who wants to do this chocolate tart, just be aware that the recipe for the pastry is incorrect. I've tried it and Elisha tried it and find the recipe should just use only 1 egg. Or else the dough will turn really sticky and watery. :)

What a beautiful & happy Saturday!!! :D

I had a wonderful weekend Friday and Saturday because I had dinner with my cousins + Joe & Eva, and my cousin Eileen cooked us Roast Pork with Crackling specially for me! (after bugging her the whole day and night :P) it was perfectly cook! Then we hang around at her place and played Jenga til 12am! Then on Saturday morning, all of us went to Tomato Lake for a morning walk/jog. It was great fun! After that we went to Rasa Nyonya at Vic Park to have our brunch. Nasi lemak there is omgosh so yummy. Joe and I when for a lil grocery shop and Swansea Market then head home. We did nearly 4 hours of gardening and helped our neighbour to put up the fencing. Woah so happy! Then showered and went to Daniel and Elisha's house to have such wonderful dinner! Woah I'm just feeling soooo damn happy! Feeling content! and I'm still feeling really full!!!! omgosh! it's 1.15 in the morning!! :D I just had to write this down for myself because I wanna remind myself what a happy weekend I had! Thank you!!! Good night!!!

Dolly Varden - Barbie Doll Cake

I baked a Barbie cake yesterday and I love it! Although it's not perfect but for my first attempt, I'm very happy with outcome!

The reason why I make this is because my workmate misses her barbie cake that she had when she was 5. So I thought I can make one for her to give her a surprise! I have never make one before or even taste it before..so basically I have no idea how to make it. I googled the pics and read some online recipes. Anyway, let me show you the pic of my Barbie cake!

Tadaa!! Here it is! My version of Barbie Doll cake!

Looks really complicated yea? Actually.. it's quite easy! Because I cheat! hahaha
Let's see how I cheat hehe :P
Firstly, I bought White Wings Butter Cake Pack. Yeaps! Super cheat!

But hey, I can't afford the risk of baking a sloppy cake because I basically have only a few hours to do it.
So yea, add in eggs milk and butter. Beat it and pour it into a Pyrex bowl then off to bake in the oven! The instruction said to put at 160c fan force, but because it's quite a deep bowl, the cake didn't cook on time, in fact it was still raw in the middle after 40 minutes in the oven. So I had to lower the temperature down to around 130c to let it bake for another 30mins.

and thank gowddd it worked!

Let it rest a couple of minutes to cool then in the fridge to chill.
At this stage, I'm not sure if I should take it out from the bowl or not ( but I think i should next time) because it's quite difficult to separate the cake after that and it crumbs.

After chilling, cut the cake into half and spread the icing onto the cake! Stack the other one back on top and iced the rest of the cake like this. Remember to turn the cake upside down so it looked like a gown :)

Now it is time for the Barbie to be in the gown!
Okay, this part will be a bit disturbing. Well, because my cake is a bit LOW.. :P I can't put the whole barbie into the cake. What they usually do is bake one cake on a pyrex bowl and another cake on a normal round cake tin that is around the same size as the bowl. They then stack them up and it will create a tall cake, then cut a hole in the middle for us to slide in the barbie's legs.

But for my case, because it was too low and I had no time to bake another cake, I separated the barbie into half! 0_0" Just think that I did a David Copperfield thing. I'm not a killer, just did a lil magic trick ok.

Then I wrap the barbie body with cling wrap. I wrap it in a way that it looks like she's wearing halter neck shirt. Then I decorated it with more icing! Pump pump pump!

*Concentrating*

Barbie: Yay!! Pink!!

I tied a lil bun for Barbie with cute ribbons to give her a sophisticated look (and avoid her hair getting creamed!)

and some glitters to her dress~

She is one pretty good copy of Barbie! She only cost me $2 from the 2 dollar shop and she looks 80% like the real barbie! Except she is super light and her dress is like paper. hahahaha Her eyes nose mouth and head looks absolutely perfect!

One thing I love the most about Barbie is the shoes!!!

My sister used to have a whole lot of Barbie shoes when we were young, and I particularly liked a pair of glittery transparent heels that she had for the barbie and I call it the Cinderella shoes. I wonder if my sister still has it.

Now the question of transporting the cake to my workplace.. how.. ?
I grabbed an empty box from Bunnings, did a bit of trimming and cutting and sticking and there you go!

The Barbie is now with the birthday girl! :D
hahaha I wish I had more time to give the box a beautiful wrap! :P
