Melb Day 5: Wonton House - Little Cupcakes - Old Town Kopitiam

I have totally forgotten to blog about my last day in Melbourne! Silly me! Edited the photos and thought that I have blogged about it.

On the last day in Melbourne, we didn't plan anything much and didn't want to go anywhere too far. Decided to just hang around in the city, explore a bit more since the city in Melbourne is like 3 times bigger than Perth's city.

We went to all the chocolate shops in the city. Haigh, Lindt and Koko Black. There's so many chocolate shops in the city it's unbelievable! Every corner!

What caught my attention is when I passed by Lindt Choc Shop is the Easter's Macarons! Soooo CUTE!!!! Such a good idea.

Time to feed our tummy darling. I did a bit of googling and found this place. It is call the Wonton House. It has good reviews so we decided to give it a try. Something lighter at least, since we have been eating like a monster the past 4 days. :P

Joe had the dry noodle and I had the soup noodle. It was pretty good. I like the noodle, cooked just the way I like it and wontons were nice too! I probably will love it even more if the soup has more flavour in it.

We stopped by Dan Murphy at QV because Joe loves Him. Nah.. jk.. Dan Murphy is a alcohol shop that sells everything alcohol! Premium wine, beers, liquor and more.

As for me.. I will go for the cute stuff like this! Doggy cake!!! I want one!!

After that we started to walk into the arcades. Arcades by arcades then we found a street of COOLNESS. Not sure what is it call but that street is so artsy, I fell in love to it!

I call it the Soup Street because they got lots of Soup shops! All mini shops and there are selling at least 8 different kind big pots of soup! There's cafes and some clothing shops too.

Even the shopkeeper look like a piece of art! Don't you think she looks like a model from magazine??

Okay now.. Don't drool all over! I know it's cute and delish! My friend told me about this place because it's her favourite! I went there and got myself 2 lil cupcakes! No doubt it's yummy!

I didn't get to go to this one because I was quite full. But this Hopetoun Tea Room looks like a popular place to go! CAKES CAKES CAKES!

It was packed when I got there. So Joe and I decided to keep this place for our next visit to Melbourne. Don't know when yet hahaha but we will definitely be back!

I was so lucky that day because DIANA is on their WORLD TOUR! Only in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. What about Perth!!!! .

I was excited to see all kinds of Diana there!

I felt like making a bunny costume for my Diana F+ too. :D
Unfortunately I don't know knitting. Okay.. not even sewing. So forget it.

Diana World Tour Includes:
The Detrich Collection - a collection of over a 100 original Diana Clone Cameras produced from the 60’s to 70’s. The DWT Global Vignettes Collection - the coolest collection of Diana images that you are ever likely to witness from all around the world and the Customised Clones Exhibition - a collection of 25 Diana cameras, customised by some of the most interesting artists, illustrators, creative types and good-time Lomography friends that Australia and New Zealand has to offer. Each clone is a complete one-off and will be exhibited as part of the 3 city tour and auctioned online to raise money for a couple of charities in need of our support www.seethroughme.com.au and World Child Cancer. A number of workshops will also be held to share the true fun, techniques and tips of the Diana F+.

Joe had Roti Telur

I had the Mee Goreng.

For drinks, Air Tebu (Sugar Cane Juice) and Teh Tarik (Pull Milk Tea)

Roti Canai was good. Mee Goreng was a bit too salty for me. Didn't manage to finish it though.
Sugar Cane.. non in Perth, so I was really happy to have it!

That's the end of my Melbourne birthday trip.
Joe and I thoroughly enjoyed our Melbourne trip, or I should say Food trip. We promised ourselves that we will definitely be back some day to continue our Food adventure.
But first of all, I think I gotto start detoxing!

Kung Fu Kitchen, Northbridge

I just had dinner at Kung Fu Kitchen at Northbridge! The name is so cute I just had to go there!

Kung Fu Kitchen is just a small restaurant serving "special kind" of food (Braised and Cold Dishes). It might be weird for some people, but if you are willing to try, it's actually quite nice. :)

Look at the menu below, you will know what I mean.

Braised Chicken Feet, Pork Ears, Pork liver, Duck Neck, Head Tongue, Giblet, Ox Tribe and many more. Are you familiar with all these??

Don't worry, if you don't like those, they serve Braised Chicken, bean curd, tofu, dumplings & spicy noodles too! Sound more like food now? :P

Now, what did I had for dinner today?

Braised Chicken in chili sauce. (Half Chicken) $14

Braised Ox Tongue $10

Braised Duck Giblet $10

and comes with a small plate of szechuan chili sauce.

The price is pretty cheap isn't it? Serving is definitely generous too! Me and my 2 other friends had all these with rice. The chicken was tender and juicy. Flavors just right. Not overpowering by the spices but still get the fragrant from it. Ox Tongue was good too! It might look rough in the photo but it was nice! If they didn't tell me what it is, I wouldn't know it's actually tongue! Taste like slice pork to me! :D As for the Giblet, nice and crunchy and taste good. The only thing that I would like them to do is probably have the Giblets in smaller size. It's quite difficult to chew such a big piece.

Overall, it was a reasonable price and tasty meal. Don't think you can get these kind of food anywhere else in Perth. It's a bit too gamey I know but they did it really nicely with the food preparation and cooking it. So it's actually not bad at all! Oh, they have Herbal Tea Egg too!

Go have a gamey lunch or dinner one day! You'll be surprise! :D

Brooke's Baby Shower

2 weeks ago I went to Brooke's baby shower. It was my first time experience!
I went with my 2 other colleagues, Judy and Christine.

As you know I'm a scary cat. When I got there and saw so many people around, I was like "Wow! That is a lot of people that I don't know! Okay, I'm going to hide behind my colleagues" :P

and I did hahahah. Don't ask me why. That's me. Gah.. I will change!!!! One day!!! >_<

When we got there, after saying hi to everyone, I started gazing around with those beautiful decorations and gifts! It was a beautiful party! The place was decorated with cute baby paper lanterns, beautiful flowers and lots of finger food!

The baby shower was organized by her best friend Kelly. She really did a amazing job! She prepared deco, food, flowers, games, prizes and more! I want a friend like this hahahah!

While waiting for everybody to arrive, we had some nice finger food to start with. It's amazing how they can prepare so much food! Regret that I had lunch before I went there.. or else I could have eaten so much more! :P

About an hour later, Kelly started to get attention from everybody because we are playing the "Baby Bingo"! Can't believe there's so much things to take care of a baby!

Guess what? I won! hehehe a box of Chocolates!
We had this other game too. But it's too difficult for me :P It's the fill in the blanks game. I gave up! hehe I started writing stupid things instead. Oh well~!

While I was there, I took some photos of the gifts...

Brooke's friend's baby boy.. I want eyes so big like his!

and The beautiful flowers..
It was great! The weather was just right that day too!

Brooke opens all the pressies on the spot and gosh.. never know baby need so much stuff! No wonder people always says baby cost a bomb. Now I know why! The worst part is baby stuff are so cute!!! You will just get everything when you see it! Too cute to resist!

My favourite part of the day... baby shower ends with.. CUPCAKES!!

Aren't they cute??

Everybody each got 1 cupcake to take home too! It's soooo yum!

Hey Brooke! Can't wait to see your baby!!!
We miss you at work!!! Come back quick!!!

Koko Black official Opening

Chocoholics rejoice! Koko Black has arrived in Perth!

The anticipation is over. Make your way over to Claremont Quarter today to enjoy a warm cup of gourmet hot chocolate or sample some of the finest chocolates Koko Black has to offer. Or perhaps you prefer to indulge in one of the 8 different sorbets they have to offer?

A viewing gallery for those interested in how Koko Black’s chocolates are made.

I had the privilege of attending today’s Media preview at their new salon and it was simply amazing. The interior design is bold yet comfortable enough for you to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon. Even in the short time I was there, there were numerous enquiries from passer-bys as to when the grand opening was. No one could wait to get their hands on what I feel is arguably the best chocolates available in Australia!

Shane Hills, The Founder of Koko black

Kim Linssen, Koko Black’s leading chocolatier and chocolate master

I had the honour of meeting some of the important members of the Koko Black Team and was fortunate enough to be given some insights into the history Koko Black, their chocolate designs, their level of dedication and most importantly how their chocolate is made!

I even had the chance to sample some of their chocolates they had to offer along the way.

In addition to an amazing selection of Belgian chocolates and truffles, Koko Black also offers high-tea for those who want something more substantial.

The Perth salon is one of the few that offers their ‘Queen of Hearts’ high tea menu. I was truly amazed at the quality of their sandwiches as well (not to mention the outstanding crème brulee tart).

Here I am with Shane Hills, founder of Koko Black and Marian Syme, their communications manager. Thanks for inviting me along! I also met Devan from Bowl of Honey!

Some of my loot from today’s media opening.

So make sure you make your way there as soon as possible! You won’t be disappointed.
