What have you learned from your dad

I've been with Joe for 7 years and I find that he knows a lot about computers, fishing, gardening, collecting stamps and even fixing things around the house! I used to wonder how he knew so much, and the answer is because of his dad.

Joe's father is a person that I have a lot of respect for. He reads a lot and as a great deal of general knowledge. He taught Joe how to tie the different fishing knots, brought him deep sea fishing, showed him how to grow plants, take care of the garden and even put up their own reticulation. He even made his own knives!

I am simply impressed and wish that I could do all this when I was young! Back in my home, I don't fish, it's too hot for gardening and I don't really do much DIY at home! Let's just say it's hot and I'm lazy :P

Do you have any fond memories with your dad? I'm sure you both did a lot together too!
Don't forget Father's Day is around the corner!

Australian Traveller Wine

When I was very little, my dad always took us for rides in his new car (yeaps! he loves cars) at night and brought us to have some fast food!

3 of us would happily jump into his car, fighting for the front seat and pressing every button that we could see in the car until we got there.

We would only quiet down when we had our food. Best thing in the olden days was that fast food place would bring the food to your car with trays that can clip onto the side doors of the car! You can enjoy your delicious hot chips and yummy burgers in the car!

Oh how I miss the days when we were young!!

In saying that, Father’s Day is around the corner which is on first Sunday of September! What are you getting for your dad? I’m sure you are probably scratching your head now thinking oh no.. what to get for my daddy??

Does your dad enjoy wine? I’m not a wine person but I’ve learnt a lot from my boyfriend about the different types of wine. He’s a wine lover and so is my dad! I’m sure most dads appreciate wine too! Hey! It’s good for your health! Haha Well of course a glass or two a day at most :D

Do you know about the Australian Gourmet Wine Magazine?

The magazine is for those who love to travel, to eat out and to entertain at home, and for those who want to know more about the wine in their glass. Gourmet Traveller Wine is the beverage magazine for wine drinkers and wine lovers alike! Have your ever had difficulty choosing the perfect wine at the bottle shop? There are so many different brands and types of wine in the world that sometimes it can be a bit difficult to know which ones to buy for which occasions. Having a greater understanding of the types of wine can be beneficial in so many ways. Maybe you’re looking for the perfect wine to match with your food or you just want to have more confidence picking a wine at a fancy restaurant. Whatever your reasons, by having the Gourmet Wine Magazine, you can learn how to appreciate wine better as well as know what’s good and what’s not before you get it.

You know what’s even better?? A magazine subscription! Get one for your dad this Father’s day and it will not just be a present but one that keeps giving throughout the year. He’ll be up to date on all the latest vintages as well learn more about the different regions, varieties and winemaking techniques. I know I look forward to getting the latest editions of my favourite magazines so I’m sure your dad will too! Get a wine magazine subscription for your daddy on this Father’s Day from Magshop.com.au!

Peregrine & Gecko's Adventures

This is ad sponsored by Peregrine Adventure & Nuffnang

It’s been a long time since you last saw Miss Mantou hasn’t it?

Maybe months even?

Miss Mantou has been really busy with a lot of stuff lately!

She couldn’t even find the time to have a good rest!

Talk about REST !!! Oh~~!!

Miss Mantou very much needs another

relaxing & yummy holiday!!

A few months ago, Miss Mantou had the trip of her life to Melbourne as her birthday gift from Char Siu Bao, and it was the greatest holiday ever!

Why, you ask? Well...Although Miss Mantou has had many other wonderful trips before, there are some things that just turn an ordinary holiday into an awesome one:)

Let me show you why with some photos!

When Miss Mantou was in Melbourne, she met up with some of her high school friends and had a great time catching up with them! She even met one of her schoolmates coincidently in a restaurant! What are the odds?? haha

Had some awesome food in Melbourne! Tried Cutler & Co. which was voted as the best restaurant in Australia. Had a great and unforgetable lunch in Vue de Monde. Tried the best Roast Pork and Duck in Pacific House and had the yummiest dessert (as my breakfast) at Brunetti’s. I was never hungry on my holiday.

Thanks to all my friends in Melbourne & Masterchef Australia for introducing me to these great restaurants! Without you, I would have missed out on one of the greatest culinary experiences of my life!

Having local knowledge of where good food can be found was invaluable.

As a Masterchef Number 1 Fan, Miss Mantou was extremely happy and excited and lucky to meet George Calombaris in his restaurant, The Press Club!

She also met Chris & Julia from Masterchef Season 1 in their restaurant, Josie Bones. The food was awesome! It was the first time in her life that she had Beer degustation! AWESOME!

For me, travel has always been about trying local food!

From there, you get to understand the local culture and lifestyle a lot better.

Don’t you want to have a holiday like this?

Going to places where locals go, trying out food that the local people love. It’s a great experience!

Well, you can do that too in places like the Galapagos, Turkey, Egypt or many others by clicking on this site, Peregrine Adventures!

Peregrine offers Unique destinations, New cultural and food experiences, local tour guides in a small group! Not like those normal tours that bring you to over-commercialised or touristy places!
To top
that off, you can get 10% off for all bookings made in July! Isn’t that great or what?!

Crazy Adventure

Nuffnang had a competition to win a Kodak Playsport! That is one awesome camera! Who wouldn't want it?!

To win, all I need to do is dream up a photo and write my own blog post of what crazy adventure I’d go on if I had a Kodak PlaySport – the catch is.. the photo must be taken at home.

Without wasting any time, I made Joe to go through the journey of winning this with me. We put on our thinking cap, thinking what crazy adventure we should go to since we have never done anything crazy before, and how to show our crazy adventure at home with crazy approach!

I thought of Light painting! By using a camera and a mini torch light.

Joe and I were figuring out how to make light painting associate with the adventure! We would love to go scuba diving together and take lots of photos and videos together under the sea! It will be awesome and beautiful!

It was our first time trying on light painting and we definitely loving it. We have tried on many different ways to show our adventure but it didn't turn out right in the beginning. For example, for the first few shots were the Sun, Sea, Sail and Big Palm Tree!!

It turns out quite nice but I wanna be in it too!
We have even tried drawing Stickman on surfing board!!

This one fail big time. Look like Jesus -_-"

Because I want to be in the photo with photo lighting, we have tried all kinds of ways to make it work. One of it is I was laying on the chair pretending to be surfing and thought of paint the surf board with light - epic fail.
I look like a flatten turtle at the end. -_-"

After a few experiment later, we have finally succeeded the light painting shoot that tells a story.
Which is this one below :)
We were both wearing the fake scuba diving gear! Our adventure!

These photos were taken at home in front of the folded ping pong table, shoot with long shutter speed and a mini torchlight.
