Enter At Your Own Risk

Happy Halloween to everyone!!! I know it's tomorrow but I think everyone should have celebrated it already since it's the weekend :P

Oh my god I had so much fun preparing for the Halloween/birthday party! Since our friend Alan's birthday is near to Halloween, Jenny and I kinda decided to have a Halloween themed birthday party without Alan's permission. Ops! Probably not a good idea but hey, it turned out awesome!

Since it's Alan's birthday, I've tried to make the food and decorations as cute as possible so it won't scares him off :P
I've designed some food labels for the dishes and came up with some weird names for it.
Printed and cut some bats, scary house and some other things to decorate it on the wall to give the house an effect of eeriness. I think I've done well for my first Halloween Party hahaha

Some of our friend's done a good job on their costumes! Like these 2 buddies from the Scary Movies! and the Count Dracula from Sesame Street~!

Nah I'm joking. haha We totally loved Franky's make up and effort! :D

Now, time for Halloween Party food! This is the most interesting part of it!
Food! FOOD! FoOd!!!
Keep your jaw close, ok? haha :D

I researched for the Halloween food recipe from Google inside out & upside down and managed to compile some of the good recipes. So if you are interested to make some for your party in the future, I've attached the links to some of the sites for recipes.

Spooky Witch Fingers. Recipe.

These cookies are absolute winner! Not only it look scary, it tasted so so good! Everybody loves it & I got so much praise from everyone! Not too sweet and not dry! One of our friend loves it so much, she come to me while munching the cookie and said "I ate a pair of hands already.. it's so good.."
Awwww... she can have as many pair as she wants~~~ hahaha

Swamp Stew

No this is not stew. It's actually Lime flavoured Aeroplane Jelly and some halloween lollies that I bought from Kmart. I'm sure you know how to make these haha. The only thing that you need to have is 2 boxes of Aeroplane Jelly to make 6 cups of jelly. Melt the jelly powder, pour half into the cup and let it set (for the first box). After about more than an hour later, top it with lollies and the second box of aeroplane jelly (same process as the first one). Then let it set in the fridge. If you didn't let it set for the first half of the jelly, the lollies will sink to the bottom and it won't look nice :)

Ghost Berries. Recipe.

This dish is pretty much quite straight forward. Make a swirl on the baking paper, dip the strawberry into the melted chocolate and placed it on top of the swirl. Let it cool and wait for the chocolate to set. Then dab on mouths and eyes with the flat end of a toothpick dipped in melted white or dark chocolate.
The recipe requires us to use parafin wax. I didn't because I can't be bothered :P

Corpse Meat

We didn't make this. Alan bought it because he wanted to eat this while playing drinking games with the guys. Silly boy :)

Witch's Bread. Recipe.

Jenny made some mini pizza for us! Not sure which recipe she refers to, but basically this is a very easy pizza to make and tasty too! Get some English Muffins from any supermarkets, spread some tomato sauce (pick the nice ones for pizzas) sliced olives, pineapple, ham and cheese! Then bake it :D
Easy isn't it?

Freddy's Brain.

This watermelon is a head turner! Definitely look like a brain! Oh and excused my rough cutting skills. I had to cut this in like 10 minutes because everybody arrived. I think it looks good with a knife hahaha.

Who is Freddy? He is from the TV series called Freddy's Nightmare! I watched it when I was young and got so afraid of the dark! I don't even dare to go to the toilet alone! But I enjoyed the Freddy's Nightmare computer game though. I played nearly everyday after school when I was primary. haha miss those times. :P

Why do I call it Freddy's Brain? This is because there's one episode of him eating ... hmm....
Okay, I don't think I should share the awful and scary Freddy's story with you now.. I'll skip this and tell you next time if there's a chance hehe

Yummy Mummy. Recipe.

Another winner! I know someone ate 8 pieces of this that night cuz she loves it so much. I didn't follow the recipe from the site because I can't find the frozen breadstick pastry. I used the Sweet Bread Dough recipe from my recipe book instead. :D Found some links for the sweet dough recipe here.

Bat Wings.

Joe prepared some baked chicken wings. You can make any flavour you want for this and can just call it Bat Wings haha. Easy!

Fuckin Duck (Pardon our french)

I don't have a recipe for this because Franky prepared this. It's tender and taste good!
The reason why I named it Fuckin Duck is because while I was thinking for names for the labels at home, Joe & I can't think of any names for this dish! We don't know whether it is roasted or fried. We think for quite a while, gave up and Joe said "Fuckin duck..so hard to come up with names for it."
I turned and look at Joe. That is a freaking good name! I type it and printed the labels!
Hey! At least everyone loves that fuckin duck!
Brain Shots. Recipe.

This is a easy recipe and need 4 ingredients.
- Cranberry Vodka
- Baileys
- a straw
- a cloth (wipe the straw after you have the bailey in the straw and before you dip it into the vodka to create the brain)

Pour the vodka into the shot glass. A straw to work like a syringe to slowly drop small amount of Baileys into the shot glass to form a brain.

Alan did the honour to chop Freddy's brain into half and I chopped the rest. hehe.. Good bye Freddy. I hate you. Nom nom nom.

After a meal of craziness.. Angel and I hid in the kitchen putting the cake together that we did the night before.

Chocolate Mousse Cake with chocolate plague and cute marshmallows!

Don't you think the marshmallow is so cute?? I got it from Coles and it comes in pink and white. The only marshmallows that shape like this. Put 2 black dots on it and there you go! A very fat and chubby cute ghost! :D

I think Alan is wishing for more marshmallow ghosts... :D

Anyway, I was so happy with the outcome! Never thought it will turned out to be a success! I wanna have Halloween party every year! hahaha it's fun!

Happy Halloween everyone! Hope you have a scary weekend!

Dinner @ Bivouac Canteen & Bar, Northbridge

Bivouac, what a fantastic place! Me and Joe fell in love with this place because of the excellent food, friendly service and reasonable price!
I heart Northbridge even more now because there's so many new cafes & bars opening up!

Bivouac opens months ago and has been very popular. Good location too!

Simple interior yet artistic. This is just a part of it. Go in and look at their huge hanging lights!

Their menu changes every 2-3 weeks. Small menu designed for sharing. They have specials daily and sometimes they have secret menus! Maybe?

Porcini Mushroom & Gruyere Croquettes
I love these! It's soft inside and crunchy on the outside! Flavour is just right and melts in your mouth! I had my eyes opened up instantly after I had a bite! Satisfying!!

Crispy Calamari, Cannellini and Chorizo Cassoulet
Joe was impressed with this dish! Lightly fried calamari and the Cassoulet was delicious. Love the tomato base sauce and the cannellini cooked just right! Delicious!

Fior Di Latte, Cherry Tomato, Basil, Rocket Pizza
and the Pizzaaaaaa.. I was in love with the cheese!!!! Fior Di Latte is now my favourite cheese!! Creamy but tasted light! Love the thin pizza base too!

I literally have enjoyed every mouth of it! Every bite there were a big smile on my face. Probably I just had a good mood just then hahaha

After mains, we decided to have a dessert to share. Why not right?

Joe had English Breakfast

and I had Latte.

As for dessert, we had..

Pistachio White Chocolate & Cointreau Parfait, Caramalised Nectarine, Honey Wafer
Decadent combos isn't it? Nicely made dessert, polished the whole lot! But the sourness of the nectarine kinda doesn't blend well with the parfait.

Overall, love Bivouac! Excellent and well thought food, reasonable price, friendly service and comfortable seating. We are definitely going back there soon! :)

I finally went for a jog this early morning and I felt great! Walking and jogging is like a creative session for me. My mind will generate all these ideas and things that I wanted to do! I got so much in my mind, I have forgotten some of it! I really need to jot things down :P I'm getting old! haha

So for today's to do list, I'm going out to hunt for ideas, ideas, and more ideas!
Won't tell you what is it for yet! Hehe.. will let you know soon :)

Oh yeah! I found lots of dandelions in our house backyard, so I thought I will take a photo of it to mark it as my first day for my inspirations!

Easy Mango & Passionfruit Eton Mess

As I promised yesterday that I will post about Billy's Mango & Passionfruit Eton Mess! Here it is!
I did it yesterday's midnight because I was craving for some yummy and refreshing dessert and of course, I can't wait to make them :)

What you need is:
1 Mango
1 Can passionfruit puree
1 packet meringue cups
200ml heavy cream ( I used thicken cream)
2 tbsp castor sugar
Vanilla Ice Cream

and here's the Method:
1. Cut the mango in half, discard the stone. Carefully cut a cross-hatch pattern through the mango down to the skin, being careful not to cut through the skin. Invert the skin, then cut all the mango cubes out.

2. Whisk the heavy cream and sugar together until stiff peak.

3. Break the meringue cups into big chunks and fold into the whipped cream. Add half mango cubes and fold it in.

4. Place a few spoonfuls of the mess on the plate, top with few extra mango cubes, then drizzle with passion fruit puree. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

I am totally in love with this easy to make recipe! It's great when you have guests around and you just want to make something delicious, quick and refreshing! It's awesome!

Being the awesome me, I added durian (without the seed) into the dessert! Tear the durian flesh into small chunks and mix it in!

Just thought of letting you know, I'm a durian fan. I will always have a packet of durian stored in the freezer just in case I'm craving for it. I think this is absolutely the best time to use my durian!
I was delicious!

Make sure you try them!

Billy & Peter from Masterchef in Perth!

Alright guys and girls, Masterchef fans in Perth! Billy and Peter from Masterchef Season 3 are here in Perth! Before I continue writing this post, just wanna remind you tomorrow (Sunday 16 Oct) is their last cooking workshop at Coles, Park Centre in Victoria Park! 11am-2pm!
So make sure you head there to meet them! They are so funny and friendly! Love them both! :D

Plus, you get to try the food that they cooked! All delicious! Seriously!

Anyway, I went to today's cooking workshop at 9am-12pm! I dragged my cousin along with me to support Billy and Peter's workshop! I asked them to have a photo taken with us
before they started cooking :)

2 tall guys and 2 shorties :P

Chatted for a bit before the workshop started at around 9 something. More and more people came to see them cook! It was fun! We get to gossip, eat, talk about where to find good food and everything else!

For the first dish, I helped Billy skewer the prawns & Chorizos ready for cooking :)
This dish is absolutely easy to make and it was delicious!! You can get the recipe tomorrow at the workshop if you are interested.

Next dish is the Smoked Salmon in the cocktail cups prepared by Peter!

Oh this is delicious too!!! I had 2!! Nom Nom.. :P

Third dish, the Coke Chicken!

This dish probably is a good talking topic for everyone when you have some friends over for a dinner! It's a chinese stir fry chicken but cooked with coke! Interesting isn't it?
I had a taste of it and it taste like what my mom cooked at home :) mmm... miss my mom :P

Fourth dish, the Garlic Prawns!!

Smell so so so good while Peter was cooking it. Perfectly cooked prawns and the sauce was delicious!! I can have a whole plate of it!

Then we had Peter's barbequed marinated lambs with some feta and salads.

and Billy's Thai Beef Mango Salad Lettuce Wrap

Yummy yum yum! The Thai dressing is to die for! I'm making it!!! One day! :P

After that, they had a short rest and we started gossiping! About Masterchef of course! It was hilarious the things that they share. We talked about who's the favourite contestants, their favourite Judges and Guest Judges and what actually happen in the Masterchef house!

Anyway, we talked and they cooked at the same time after that and the next dish is Peter's Fish Curry and a mystery box challenge for Billy. Peter asked one of the kid from the crowd to go to the fruit and vege section in Coles to pick a random vege for Billy. He went in and got a Chokoes!

I had no idea what is it and so does Billy! He had never tried it before! Peter cooked it before and his mom even plant in at home and grow to a beautiful vine/fencing! He said you will never be hungry haha. and one lady from the crowd said she always use it for chicken soup.

Billy looked at it and started peeling the skin off and cut it into slices. He had no idea at all until he took a bite and said, this actually alright! Taste like apple! Instantly, he pickled it and made it into a salad dish! This is what we call a Masterchef ey!

Chokoes salad is delicious! haha to me and my cousin, it taste like a apple x green mango. Interesting!

Lastly, Peter made Strawberry Eton Mess. Yum Yumzzzz
Recipe is available too at the workshop :)

Billy did Mango and Passionfruit Eton Mess after the Coke Chicken but I have forgotten to take a photo of it. Yeap, I was too eager to try the Eton Mess. Delish and refreshing!

and guess what! I'm going to make it later!!! Wait for my next post! :D

Remember to go to Coles Vic Park tomorrow at 11am-2pm!!! Great fun!!
